Why I think that Perez 100% deserves the RedBull Seat

Just 4 days ago RedBull announced that it would be parting with its current second driver Alex Albon and signing Sergio Perez. Here are a few points that show why Sergio definitely deserves this seat.

Firstly, i want to say that i really hope that Sergio is not ending like Albon or Gasly after challenging with Verstappen. In my eyes Max is a amazing driver and shows unbelievable skills at such an young age. He´s definitly hard to beat and its also hard to show RedBull that you deserve the second seat next to a driver like Verstappen.

There´s no doubt that Sergio definitly deserves a seat for the next season and i´m pretty curious how he will drive in a car which is really difficult to drive. The question is if RedBull is the right team for a guy like Perez. He´s way to talented and experienced not to be a teams top driver. In the 2020 season with Racing Point showed an stunning performance, which also got him his first ever win in F1. He literally made others look like beginners in some races.

When it was confirmed that Sebastian Vettel will be taking Sergios seat in 2021, i was kinda dissapointed. But i´ve never thought he would be getting a RedBull seat at the end of the season. We all know that RedBull is mostly taking their own junior drivers into the top team after they proved themselfes at Alpha Tauri. So it was surprising for me, that they signed Perez, who was a Ferarri Junior driver some time ago. But as the junior pool in this Team is really looking lean at the moment, it was probably the best choice, they could have made.

And here the reasons why he, in my opinion, deserves this seat:

  • his really impressive win in Bahrain after the collision with Charles Leclerc in the first round -> first win in F1 after 190 starts
  • he seems to be in the form of his life
  • was finished in points in all races except two
  • showed that he could definitly put Verstappen under pressure and help the team to score more championshippoints than they could with Albon
  • finishing fourth in the championship after missing 2 races due Covid 19
  • achieving stunning performances in almost all races of the 2020 season
  • really good at managing his tyres, which is important if RedBull wants to challenge Mercedes in the next years

If you have any more reasons why it was probably the best for the RedBull Team to sign Perez, just leave it in the comment section below :))
